Overview of public policy analysis theory and practice with an emphasis on the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and the state of Texas. Focuses on policy analysis as a tool to better identify and understand policy problems, policy alternatives, policy implementation, as well as policy outcomes, consequences, and uncertainties. Policy analysts offer crucial advice to policymakers by carefully analyzing sources of relevant information through various theoretical lenses and analytical techniques. These recommendations are client-oriented, pertinent to public decisions, contextual to time/place/culture, and influenced by key social values and political processes. 3 credit hours.
