Scientific Writing for STEM Students

Instruction in scientific writing, editing, and evaluative skillsets for writing research fellowships and applications for graduate school in STEM fields, critical skills for students planning to apply for MS or PhD programs, and competitive fellowship funding. Designed to promote skillset development to communicate science in writing. Writing intensive with peer review opportunities; iteration and evaluation methodology on how to communicate scientific ideas effectively through writing; instruction on evaluative components used in grant writing (intellectual merit, broader impacts, significance, innovation, impact, etc.), and components important to writing manuscripts as well as the review processes. 3 credit hours.
Prerequisites: BIOL 3401 and (BIOL 3461 or CHEM 3461).
