Surveys modes and trends of civic engagement in the United States. Topics covered in the course include voting, advocacy, community organizing, public service, and running for political office. The course will describe the role of civic engagement in communities and governing institutions with an emphasis on state and local governments as well as the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and the State of Texas. 3 credit hours.
