Innocence Project of Texas (IPTX)
PSCI 4323
School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences
The Innocence Project of Texas (IPTX) investigates and litigates claims of innocence made by individuals who have been wrongfully convicted of crimes in the state of Texas. UT Dallas students, along with students from select Texas-based law schools, form the backbone of IPTX operations. In class, they evaluate thousands of pages of court records and police reports to determine if a convicted person's case should receive a further review by a Project attorney. The key standard is whether there is a potential claim of innocence that can be proven and that meets the legal standards necessary for successful litigation in Texas state courts. May be repeated for credit (9 semester credit hours maximum). 3 credit hours.
