This course examines protests and activism to promote social change in a variety of countries around the world. Topics include the U.S. civil rights movement, the campaign to end Apartheid in South Africa, women's suffrage, pro-democracy movements, and right-wing, nationalist movements. Students will gain knowledge about the tools of activism and advocacy as they learn about several empirical cases. 3 credit hours.
