This course examines politics in ethnically divided societies through a comparative perspective. Topics include nationalism and state-building, democratic institutions, ethnic conflict, and public policy. Students will learn theories of ethnic politics as well as gain an understanding of several contemporary cases from various world regions. 3 credit hours.
