Quantitative Systems Pharmacology

School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
This course uses lectures and in-class exercises to introduce the fundamentals of Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP). QSP uses modeling and simulations to reveal the molecular and physiological determinants of disease and to assess the effects and side effects of prescription drug candidates. QSP integrates knowledge from biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, pharmacology, and clinical sciences with tools from mathematics, computing, and data science. QSP can help generate computationally derived pharmacological hypotheses that aid the design of clinical and non-clinical experiments toward meaningful data. 3 credit hours.
Prerequisites: BIOL 5410 and enrollment in any of the Master's or Doctoral Programs in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and instructor consent required.
