The course reviews energy metabolism, macronutrients, vitamins, minerals, and protective food compounds. It examines how nutrient imbalances contribute to chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Additionally, it introduces microbiomics, nutrigenomics, nutrigenetics, and chrononutrition, highlighting the effects of diet on microbiota and the interplay between food, sleep, metabolism, and genes. 3 credit hours.
